Frank Harnischfeger
Chairman
Frank Harnischfeger is the Chairman of The Biodiversity Consultancy.
Apart from being the Chairman of The Biodiversity Consultancy. Frank holds a number of non-executive positions. He is an Independent Member of the Supervisory Board of Fairtrade International and Treasurer of the Organization that focuses on promoting the lives of farmers and workers through trade, and a member of the Board of ISEAL Alliance, a global membership organization for credible sustainability labels. Frank is also currently the Chief Operating Officer and the Chief Financial Officer of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
Earlier non-executive roles include the Independent Oversight Advisory Committee of the International Labor Organization in Geneva, advising the ILO’s Governing Body on matters related to Audit, Finance, Operations and Risk. Prior to his current roles, Frank was a Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington DC where he led the operations, technology and global infrastructure of the institution with more than 100 office locations around the world. As part of this appointment he was an ex officio member of the High Level Committee on Management (HLCM) of the United Nations. Prior to this appointment, Frank held a variety of positions in the private sector including as Chief Procurement Officer, Principal in a top management consulting firm and various senior finance roles in industry and retail.
Frank is married with two grown kids. Outside of work he enjoys sports (such as tennis, rowing, rollerblading, running, cross country and alpine skiing) and is always interested in exploring local (sweet) baking specialities.
