Marc has 15 years’ experience as an ecological consultant and research scientist. This includes seven years as a biodiversity consultant in Australia where he worked on a wide range of projects, including in the renewable energy, mining and infrastructure sectors.

Marc’s research career spans the fields of plant conservation, molecular ecology, mycorrhizal fungi, pollination biology, eDNA, fire ecology, and plant taxonomy. He has a PhD on the conservation of Prasophyllum (leek orchids) from the Australian National University. Marc previously worked as a research scientist with the world’s largest threatened orchid rewilding program at the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria (Australia).

More recently, he worked with the Australian Government preparing RedList assessments and recovery plans for threatened plants. Marc actively publishes scientific research papers with leading botanical research journals, and co-authored the Australian guidelines for the translocation of threatened plants and for plant germplasm conservation.
