Nadia Sheikh
Intern, Development Projects - Mining
BSc, MSc
Nadia has trained as a quantitative ecologist with an MSc from the University of Glasgow in Quantitative Methods for Biodiversity, Conservation and Epidemiology, and a BSc from the University of Sussex in Ecology, Conservation and Environment. Nadia is an intern in the Sustainable Infrastructure team and provides support for a range of projects, particularly in Mining.
For her Masters thesis, Nadia analysed gut-seed retention time in the frugivorous birds of Patagonia, using a Bayesian hierarchical approach that involved a joint-species framework. She is well acquainted with using R, QGIS and Stan for quantitative ecological analysis, and has a particular interest in spatial analyses. She also has spent time conducting a project in Ecuador involving bat mist-trapping and pollen sampling to establish a pollen-bat ID database.
