Paris Stefanoudis

Principal Consultant

Paris is an interdisciplinary environmental professional having 10 years’ experience working in  projects with a biodiversity, conservation and policy focus. He has a PhD in deep-sea biology from the University of Southampton, and has been working on deep coral reef biodiversity and conservation for several years. His work has taken him to expeditions in the Indian Ocean and the High Seas, and led to the involvement in interdisciplinary, multi-stakeholder projects (including policy-makers, conservationists, researchers, science communicators) with collaborators across the globe. He is passionate about the need to preserve Earth's biodiversity in order to help maintain nature's benefits to humankind and stabilise our climate, and has given public talks, media interviews, and produced digital content (science blogs, podcast) to that end. Moreover, he is involved in efforts and discussions to help achieve equity and justice in the research and conservation space.

In TBC Paris is a Principal Consultant within the technical design and development team. He is also an Associate Researcher at the University of Oxford and Nekton Foundation. His work in TBC is on helping clients understanding biodiversity metrics and how these can be applied to a wide range of contexts, including credits and nature-positive approaches. He is also a specialist on ocean-related issues and contributes to relevant corporate science target-setting initiatives.

Paris is fluent in English and Greek (native), and has working knowledge of German. He has published more than 40 scientific papers, identification guides and reports, and is currently a contributing author of the 3rd World Ocean Assessment.
