Susanne comes with 30 years' experience in ecology, sustainable use of plant resources, and for the past ten years she has been engaging with the extractives and finance sector to reduce nature-related risk.
Susanne had a long career at WWF where she led a small team that developed innovative geo-spatial data solutions, tools and thought-leadership to address nature-related risk in the extractives sector, and from which quickly transpired the relevance to the finance sector. In her last position at WWF she was the Nature and Spatial Finance Lead, collaborating and co-publishing with a number of financial institutions and data providers.
At The Biodiversity Consultancy, Susanne provides, amongst other things, the 'connector' role between the biodiversity, nature and finance world in order to build the understanding, practical approaches and policies for financial institution to start addressing nature related risks and opportunities in their financial decision making and engagement with corporates.
She has held advisory board positions in the data solutions space of sustainable finance and nature tech and for the last two years been an independent consultant.
She holds a BA(Hons) degree in Geography and Economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies and a DPhil. from Oxford University for which she conducted tropical ecology research in Indonesia.
