Food & Beverages
Securing supply chain resilience through protecting and restoring nature.
The food and beverage industry relies heavily on nature. Every aspect of food and beverage value chains - from sourcing raw materials to packaging products for consumers - are linked to ecosystem services. Preventing environmental degradation and protecting ecosystem resilience – for healthy soil, water supply, climate stability, pollination and pest control - is therefore critical for the industry. However, the food and beverage industry is also one of the largest drivers of biodiversity loss globally, due to land use change, pollution, water use and greenhouse gas emissions. There is a need to move towards more sustainable food production systems, so that nature and people can thrive together
At The Biodiversity Consultancy, we work with our client partners to first understand the greatest sources of nature-related impacts, dependencies, risks and opportunities in their value chain. We then use this data to develop strategies, targets and actions that can avoid future impacts on nature, reduce the on-going footprint of agricultural production through more regenerative practices, and enable nature recovery at a landscape scale for more resilient food systems in the long run.
